3-6-8 pounds... I remember that number so well. That is what I weighed at one time. I had allowed of series of events in my life to get me to this weight. I was depressed, divorced, single parent, raising 3 teenagers, ex-addict, and I was an emotional eater. I hated taking pictures because I could see every bump, hump, lump, and fat that was on my body. I suffered from arthritis and all that weight on me did not help one bit. I was tired all the time and had no energy to do nothing but go to work, come home, cook for the kids if I felt like it, and then off to bed. Only to get back up and back into the same vicious cycle.
I was working at a recycling center in Ann Arbor Michigan in 2003 and one of my co-worker's wife came in to visit. She looked spectacular! I hadn't seen her in a while and I could see that she was losing weight. What was she doing? I wanted to know I just had to know. She shared with me that she had had Gastric By-pass surgery. So I looked it up. I wanted in on this. This would resolve my issue! So I thought. I scheduled the consultation, went through the series of tests and surgery was scheduled. The first time they couldn't perform the surgery due to complications but the second time was successful. I lost 189 pounds in over a year's time... Re-Mark-A-Ble!
I wish someone had told me about MINDSET. I wish I had changed my mindset before having that surgery. Somedays I regretted the surgery. Certain medications I couldn't take because they would cause internal bleeding, a ton of vitamins to be taken, I lost a lot of my hair due to not getting the protein back into my system, and the list goes on. I regained 85 of those 189 pounds that I had lost. I developed bad eating habits again-soda, chocolate, fried foods, pasta, breads, chips... All the no-no's that aren't good for you. I didn't know what it was to eat those things in moderation. I had to make some changes. I'm tired of this up and down, yo-yo effect that my weight is having.
So here I am 2020 fed up again. But I have 2 things on my side this time. This time I have 2 of my best friends with me on this weight loss journey.
